Vulnerability-related risks

18 November 2021

A College of Policing publication provides a framework to ensure vulnerable people receive appropriate help during interactions with the police. Key areas of focus for officers and staff include: recognising individuals at risk of harm; better understanding the vulnerabilities of all those they encounter, rather than thinking about risk in relation to individual forms of harm, such as child abuse or domestic violence in isolation; and interacting with vulnerable people in a way that maximises opportunities for disclosure.
